This torrent includes:

Iris Harrier for FS2004 patched to work in FSX.

Iris F-35B for FS2004 patched to work in FSX.

FSUIPC 4.30+serial required to make the VTOL function work.

PLUS

The patches to make the VTOL and gauges work in FSX if you have already have the original FS2004 planes. These are in separate .zip files so you can pick and chose what you need to make them work and don't bother DLing the rest.

Make sure have FSUPIC 4.0 or higher to make the VTOL work. The patched gauges will work in FSX without FSUIPC, but you won't be able to take off or land vertiacally without FSUIPC.

You will need to restart FSX and maybe even reboot your system after installing FSUIPC to get it work right.

*****IF you use the add-ons in this torrent, they are already patched, they should need no further modification to work in FSX.*****

The read-me files are there and assume that you are patching the files, but once again THESE FILES ARE ALREADY PATCHED! Don't bother patching them if you use the add-on aircraft included in this torrent. The patch files are just there for those that have already downloaded the original FS2004 aircraft.

Read the read-me files anyway, because they contain tips on setting up and flying the aircraft in FSX.

Basically you need to tweak the weight sometimes to get the VTOL to function properly - the readme files explain it better. You can use the FUEL AND PAYLOAD menu in the FREE FLIGHT menu inside FSX to adjust the aircraft weight by changing the fuel load.

Both of these are nice flying aircraft and work as they should -- VTOL, all the gauges, etc. They also take off and land like conventional planes if you want to do it that way too.

None of this is my original work. All I did was download the aircraft torrents from TPB, hunted down the patches, patched the aircraft, and packaged them with FSUIPC (also from TPB) to put them all in one place for you one-stop-shopping convenience.

Don't thank me, thank the original uploaders.

Happy flying!

Comments

Once someone has it downloaded and has tried it, post a comment and let me know that it works.

After I uploaded it, I started to worry that I didn't get the ones I did for the torrent patched right. Probably just being paranoid, but it's my second torrent and I want to know that I didn't screw anything up.

Thanks!
Does the harrier work in Fsx acceleration?
It works for me in Acceleration. There is a bit of a transparency (or lack of transparency) issue with the HUD on my rig, but I have that problem a lot of FSX aircraft due to my outdated video card.
Thanks for the upload. The Harrier works but has some minor problems. Transparency issues in the VC HUD as mentioned before (no issues in the 2D view), and I can't get it to take off vertically. I can do a slow roll to about 40 knots, take off, then adjust pitch and flaps (booster angle) and then the plane will hover and land vertically no problem.

No problems at all with the F-35B. Put her through her paces for about 3 hours yesterday and as far as I can tell, everything is working just as it should. A really fun plane to fly!

Thanks again for the upload!
@ BlueStringer

I suspect your problem is related to the airplane weight.

I've found that if you go into the "Fuel and Payload" menu in the "Free Flight" screen and change the fuel to 50% in all the internal tanks and 0% on the external tanks, it gets the gross weight down to where it flies properly.

I wiped my HD yesterday and upgraded to XP X64 and reinstalled FSX + Acceleration and used the Harrier files from this torrent and it works fine - if you edit the fuel load inside FSX.

To be sure if it's a weight problem or not, you can turn on unlimited fuel in the options menu, set all of the tanks to 0% except one at 5%, then try the plane like that. When I tried it with no fuel weight, it would hardly stay on the ground.

Post back if you get it working or not.
B15, yep, that worked. Thanks a bunch for the upload and the help. Have a good'un.
does anybody know how to fix the harrier hud problem it really spoils it for me? any idea's or fixes would be much appreciated!!
Anyone know whether or not the afterburner is supposed to show on this aircraft? I've installed everything correctly and it flies great but I'm not seeing any AB effect. The Iris site makes mention of XML controlled afterburner or such...
